Amazon · Test reports
What does a test report need to show for Amazon to accept it?
Short answer: Amazon accepts a report from a lab that CPSC accepts for each rule tested, showing Pass (or Not applicable) for every applicable rule, run on production samples, and identifying the same product and company as your listing and CPC. For toys it must be issued within the previous 12 months and cover ASTM F963-23, CPSIA phthalates, tracking labels and, for under-3s, 16 CFR 1501 small parts.
Last verified: October 2026. General information, not legal advice. KidsTestingLabs is an independent directory and guide: we don't test products and never issue or certify Children's Product Certificates. The US importer or US manufacturer is responsible for certifying compliance.

Common rejections
Why do reports get rejected?
- The lab is accredited (ISO 17025) but not CPSC-accepted for that rule, or the accepted location differs from the one on the report.
- The report is for an older edition (for example F963-17) on a toy made after April 20, 2024, when F963-23 became mandatory.
- It's a factory's generic report in another company's name, or covers a different model.
- One component or color is missing from the chemistry testing.

Then what
I have a valid report. What's next?
Issue your CPC (you are the certifier), photograph the tracking label, and submit. For toys, Amazon routes the package through an approved TIC provider; see how to answer Amazon’s CPC request. Selling elsewhere too? Compare Walmart and TikTok Shop rules.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can I use a report from an ISO 17025 lab that isn't CPSC-accepted?
Not for CPSC-regulated children's products. Amazon requires independent testing at a CPSC-accepted lab, and CPSC accepts labs rule by rule and location by location.
Is a 13-month-old toy report acceptable on Amazon?
Amazon's toy policy asks for a report issued within the previous 12 months, so plan retesting before the anniversary.
Does the report have to be in my company's name?
It should match the importer on your CPC. Reports issued to another company commonly cause rejections.
Does Amazon accept reports on golden samples?
No. Amazon's guidelines say it accepts only passing reports on products from a production run, not pre-production or prototype units.
Do I need photos of the tested product on the report?
Not always required, but matching photos and model numbers make it much easier for Amazon or a TIC provider to confirm the report covers your listing.
